Ashong (Wu Bin Tsong), hunter of Lunpei Clan, Datung Village, Ilan
The route of Hapen and cross-ridge route of central ridge would first go from Fu Shan Village of Wulai, and one has to pass by two rivers, and No. 1 and No. 2 bridge to the confluence of Nan-shi River and Hapen River. Most of the sections are comfortable to walk through. It is of the previous heritage of central and large clan cluster and school at the confluence. As one goes up-stream of Nan-shi River, it will pass the creek-tier heritage of upper clan where is surrounding by wild grass and willow. Also, footprints of boar are widespread at the riverside, telling the rich ecology of the place. Since there are a lot of banana tree at the upper clan, Taiwanese moneys are prevalent.
From the side of the steep road at the upper clan, it would connect to the cross-ridge trail of Hapen central ridge. The path meanders forward along the middle of the mountain. Since the road is well maintained, there are but a few insignificant cave-in and fallen tree. On the way, low and medium altitude trees are prosperous. Since the area is humid with low temperature, some medium altitude plants such as diplopterygium chinensis (rosenst.) devol and monachosorum henryi can be found easily. From the creek side to the cross-ridge trail, footprints of animal and their manure are found everywhere, sometimes even their bone, telling the rule of natural forest is going on right here. |
