The lotus village is my hometown, and I feel serene and natural to be here with it day and night. Besides, it helps to add with the endowment artistic beauty with the company of lotus in the country life. Since love lotus and so lotus river, and born in lotus river I love lotus, I would share with the young who tour around Taiwan to learn.
Lotus was first planted at Bei-tan on its own by settlers about 200 years ago at Pai River, and then farmed in the field as crops. In 1989, it was encouraged to be planted as crops by our the government, and since Pai River was located at the tropic of Cancer with sunshine from the south, soil at Kwan Tze Lin is full of calcium and the diurnal temperature is large as of the shelter of Da-Dong-Shan, the plantation of lotus has reached as extensive as more than 400 chia, in additional to the diligent work of the farmers. As one views over there is plenty of lotus field, with fragrance all over. Though there is no longer such wonderful view today, people of the locality would strive to cultivate lotus imagination studio, and they have planted 2 chia of lotus field. It is now a wonder all over as one sight.
As Paiho Lotus Carnival is held, the upgrading of lotus has turned from agricultural product into leisure industry as well as handicraft of indigenous feature, while louts arts with lotus as its core value is being promoted for adoption with full-scale by the white lotus Pottery studio, so that the spirit of lotus can be found among the general mass. Since lotus industry of Pai River is given with its civilian subjectivity and power of continuation, though small but concrete, we are happy to share and discuss with young people of such cultural experience.
